Matt Gaston serves as Partner and Senior Executive Officer at Rush Creek Operating, LLC (RCOV). As an organically developed leader within the organization, Matt embodies Rush Creek’s culture of integrity, discipline, and operational excellence.

He was introduced to Rush Creek’s founder, Alan Girardot, in 2015 through a mutual acquaintance while managing a tax liability following a successful real estate liquidation. Drawn by the tangible nature of energy investments and their tax-efficient structure, Matt participated in his first drilling project and quickly developed a passion for the oil and gas industry.

Since joining Rush Creek, Matt has worked alongside Alan in building the company from the ground up—contributing across a broad range of disciplines including exploration analysis, systems implementation, and operations management. His hands-on experience and deep understanding of the company’s processes have made him a cornerstone of Rush Creek’s growth and success.

In his current capacity, Matt oversees joint interest billing, information systems management, land and title administration, and business development initiatives for RCOV and its affiliated exploration and production entities. Having been mentored by Alan for nearly a decade, Matt serves as a trusted second-in-command with full operational agency to lead and expand the Rush Creek portfolio.

Prior to his career in energy, Matt served with distinction as a firefighter and lieutenant for the City of Plano, Texas. His background in public service instilled the leadership, accountability, and teamwork that continue to define his approach to business and the culture he helps cultivate within Rush Creek.
